About
About this site
Time Card Calculator is a small, independent tool that turns daily start and end times into a weekly hours total — in both hours-and-minutes and decimal form.
Who runs it
This site is run by Time Card Calculator, an independent web project. It is not operated by, endorsed by, or connected to any payroll provider, staffing agency, or employer. The site is published under its own name rather than a personal one.
What the site does
The calculator takes a set of daily shifts for one week and returns:
- the total for the week in h:mm form,
- the same total as decimal hours for payroll,
- the total for the last day you filled in.
You can add unpaid breaks, split a day into two shifts, and set the rounding rule. If you supply an overtime threshold and multiplier, the total is split into regular and overtime hours. Both of those figures are entered by you — the site does not assume a threshold or a multiplier, because those differ by country, state and contract. If you already have a weekly total and only want the split, the overtime calculator does that on its own page.
Why the calculator states its rules
Most time card calculators leave three things unsaid: how they round, how they treat a shift that crosses midnight, and how they convert to decimal. When a total disagrees with a payslip, that silence leaves you with no way to tell why.
This calculator writes all three rules on the page, and lets you change the rounding rule rather than fixing it for you.
How the site is paid for
The calculator is free and requires no account. In the future this site may display third-party advertising. If and when that happens, the privacy policy will describe it. The calculator itself will stay free and unchanged.
